In keeping with my promise to post here weekly, I thought I’d detail what is on my plate for the coming month:
- My father’s birthday
- My grandmother’s birthday
- Independence Day
- Road trip
My father’s birthday and my grandmother’s birthday are both going to end up being celebrated on the same day at the same time (well, that’s the most likely situation, at least). Which will probably also be when my family decides to do anything Independence Day-related. As you may or may not be able to deduce, what I’m most excited about is the road trip!
The Freaking Road Trip
That’s right, road trip! My ex-roommate Dan and I are going to be taking a road trip! We’ve been talking about it and speculating as to what we might do for the better part of the past year, but the time has finally come and we will be leaving in just over a week (July 5th, to be exact!).
“So, where are you going?” Well, we’re going to start the trip off in Florida (we’ll be flying down there) at his parents’ place near Orlando, where his car is at. Before we officially start the trip, we’re going to go down and spend some time in the Keys, relax, check it out before the oil spill completely destroys them, then go back up to Orlando. From there, we will stock up on supplies and head off west.
Following the Gulf Coast (we wanna see the oil spill), we’ll go through Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana until we hit Texas. We’re planning on driving to Houston and then probably up to Dallas/Fort Worth. From there, we’ll head west to Albuquerque, New Mexico (where we will, of course, listen to Weird Al’s “Albuquerque”), through Arizona, and all the way to Los Angeles, California, where we will hopefully meet up with a friend for lunch and maybe sleeping on a couch or something along those lines.
Then, we start the return part of our trip. Swinging up to Nevada (and through Vegas), we’ll then head back down to Albuquerque and roughly retrace our steps all the way back to Florida, where we’ll rest for a few days or so and reflect on how totally awesome our road trip was. Or something to that effect.
You’ve probably noticed by now that I haven’t mentioned any specific (or even vague) measurements of time. That’s because, well… we don’t have any. We’re kind of winging this part of it, so things are a bit… wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey. But that’s half the fun!
Anyway
That’s what I’ve got planned for July… If I don’t manage to update this blog in the middle of the month, that’s my excuse! I’ll just be too busy having the time of my life.
